Changing the world one cup at a time.

Fair trade simply means that workers in many developing countries without minimum wages are paid living wages (enough to feed, clothe, and shelter their families).   We feel that fair trade is important because someone working full time should not worry about whether or not they’ll be able to provide basic necessities the Bible says in 1 Timothy 5:18 that “The worker deserves his wages.”   Besides just fair trade coffee we also offer other fair trade products such as coffee and tea pots and even our shelves.

We will be setting our regular business hours in the fall after we have seen the demand in Bainbridge but at this time we plan on opening at 7am M-F and at 8am on Saturday.  We will remain open until 6:30 pm M-Th and until 10 pm F & S.  We will be closed on Sunday.

Just as with any other food product, coffee gets stale.  Coffee can be kept for long periods of time (in a cool, dry environment) until it is roasted but after that point begins to age.  Unlike fine wines, coffee does not get better with age and the flavors start to change slightly 10 days after it has been roasted and continues to break down as time progresses.

What do you mean by Fair Trade and why does it matter?

The Fair Trade certification is geared more towards coffee and does not meet the needs of many of the smaller tea plantations at this point and time.  Many people throughout the industry have assured us that these plantations generally pay higher wages than required for living wages anyway.

Why don’t you have Fair Trade tea?
